In the A Level, a holiday soft and fury animal store will be open in the Friends Auditorium Lobby, along with a holiday exotic live animal zoo in the Staff Lounge. A used bookstore will be open to the public in the South Hallway. A variety of exhibits will be on display throughout the library. In the Cass Concourse North: Why I Come to America photo exhibit and Quilt, a display and presentation of knitted blankets for "Warm Up America." A Motor City Year photo exhibit is on display in the Cass Hallway, along with a book sale hosted by Wayne State University Press. In Strohm Hall: The People, a photo exhibit of the faces of Detroit by Andre McWilliams will be on display, along with face painting and the Balloon Lady along with caricature artists (free), and a varied selection of holiday gifts. In the Old Fine Arts Hallway: Focus on the Mission, a teen photo exhibit from Focus Hope. The Ernie Harwell Room will be open for tours, as well as the Hackley Music Collection where refreshments will be served.

His work illustrates his deep exploration of a wide variety of modern artistic styles, including Cubism, Pointillism, Abstract Expressionism and Fauvism, which he synthsized and used often to depict local subject matter.

This new gallery is hosting Winter Mode, an evening featuring artwork and a variety of activities all under the theme, "People as Art." The featured charity of the night is The Red Cross. Get some of your holiday shopping done at the gallery's Artesian Market where items start at $10. This Market will continue through December 19th on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12-6pm. There will also be a professional networking event from 5-7:00pm where industry leaders from film to model/talent agencies can talk shop or cross-promote their future projects. A $10 cover will be charged at 9pm for the fashion show and afterglow, Club Moonlight, which will feature music and a live film set. |
