MIDTOWN SECURITY

In early 2009 the University Cultural Center Association (UCCA) formed the Midtown Security Coalition.  Partnering with local businesses, apartment owners, institutions, area security professionals and the Wayne State University Police Department, the Security Coalition meets bi-monthly to discuss security in the Midtown neighborhood as well as initiatives that can support security efforts.

As part of UCCA's efforts, the organization was awarded a grant from the Hudson-Webber Foundation to provide support businesses and property owners in Midtown with security improvements.  Launched in the fall of 2010, the Security Improvement Grant Program helps business and property owners, in the Midtown area, add and/or upgrade security and surveillance mechanisms on their property.

The Security Matching Grant is available for Midtown businesses and property owners.  As part of the grant, the UCCA requires each property to undergo a security audit conducted by the Wayne State University Police Department.  Requested improvements may include items such as decorative fencing, deadbolt locks, lighting, camera and alarm systems, and electronic parking gate locks.  For more information, contact the UCCA or download the application below.
